LOUISVILLE SLUGGER 11.5-IN. LITTLE LEAGUE GLOVE

slugger-baseball-gloveWe lost Alex’s Wilson glove last year at the ballpark, as well as my expensive Mizuno glove.  We both got new baseball gloves – an Easton for me, and this Lousiville Slugger for Alex.  I really like the glove, it is leather on the inside, and  nylon on the back.  This makes it easier for Alex (and any young hands) to open and close the glove and capture the ball.  This is not a premium glove, in fact, it cost $24.99 at Academy Sports, and was on of the cheaper “real” baseball gloves they had available.

This is an entry level peice of equipment, and defi itely not one that he will keep if he continues to play baseball for a few years, but for a couple of season, it is perfect.  I would recommend a glove like this if you aren’t going to be playing enough to truly break it in “right” and need something that young hands can easily open and close.

Rawlings Renegade Review

2002187_s1_i1

I refuse to pay $300 for a big barrel bat for my 9 year old’s baseball league.  Enter the cheapest big barrel (2 3/4) I could find – the Rawlings Renegade at around $35.

Truthfully, it seems that many parents think that an expensive baseball bat is the “magic pill” for their kid’s batting slump.  From what I’ve seen, it makes very little difference in the average childs performance.  The bat manufacturer’s seem to be engaged in a marketing ploy with parents similar to the golf club manufacturer’s marketing madness.

At first glance, it seems to be a knock-off of one of the more expensive bats.  It makes a good solid thump hitting the ball, and seems to have some decent spring to the aluminum barrel.  As we use it, I’ll give an update on how my son hits with it, especially compared with the Worth Prodigy.
